An Easy Warm Drink For A Cold Winter’s Night: Mulled Wine Recipe

We’re in the coldest part of the year. The days are still short, and we’re a ways from spring yet. So why not make the most of the occasion with some delicious mulled wine? It’s warm, it’s tasty, and it’s perfect for relaxing after a cold winter day. And the best part is, it’s also really easy to make! What you’ll need is:

-Red wine (it doesn’t have to be all that nice)

-Mulling spices (cinnamon sticks, whole clove, and star anise are most traditional, but you can also add nutmeg, allspice, peppercorn, and cardamom pods)

-One fresh orange

-Sweetener (sugar, honey, or maple syrup)

Making mulled wine is a very simple three step process.

Step One: Combine all your ingredients and stir
Step Two: Bring the mix almost to a simmer at medium-high heat, then reduce the heat to low and cover for 15 minutes
Step Three: Strain to remove spices

Just like that your mulled wine is ready to drink! You can experiment with your own spices and sweetener to find the mix that fits your taste…and you can always taste it as it’s simmering to make sure it’s how you want it, adding additional spices or sweetener as needed!
